Efficiency through Measurement Methods
Reliable measurement methods help to make valid statements and demonstrate progress. At Personalworkout, I also attach great importance to verifiable progress. I would like to use my own example to show you which measurement methods are used at Personalworkout.
1. Weight measurement (scale)
Although weight is not particularly significant, it is still a necessity. I have gained five pounds in the last six months. Based on my training and my appearance, I know that the weight gain must be mainly due to muscle mass.
It is more difficult to determine the cause of weight loss. Did the client lose fat, or was the weight loss due to water or muscle loss, as is often the case with diets that involve a large reduction in calories? To answer this question, it is helpful to measure the body fat percentage.
2. YPSI – skinfold measurement (caliper)
The measurement with the body fat caliper is very accurate and is performed at Personalworkout according to the YPSI philosophy of Wolfgang Unsöld. He further developed the Biosignature method and related 13 skin folds to the body fat percentage. His algorithm, developed over years of observation, then determines the current body fat percentage. The wrinkles also provide information about hormonal balance and lifestyle.
This means that specific wrinkles can be targeted even more precisely. In my case, the percentage of fat has dropped from ten percent to six percent. This means that the five kilogram increase is due to an increase in muscle mass.
3. Girth measurement (3D scanner)
Girth measurements alone are not useful either. However, they are very interesting in relation to weight and fat percentage. A large girth can mean a lot of fat, but also more muscle mass. In the context of strength training and taking skinfold measurements into account, I find girths interesting.
At Personalworkout, I measure girth on the client’s digital three-dimensional model. With the help of the 3D scanner and the Bodygee app, the entire body is captured in two minutes and measured and analyzed using a new measuring method. The scan and the measurement and analysis function are then available to the customer in the app to provide additional motivation.
With these three measurement methods, the effects of the personal training and nutrition plan can be precisely monitored and individually adjusted. This ensures maximum efficiency.
