Personalworkout’s 24 Small Tips for a Weight Gain-Free Christmas
Losing weight for Christmas might be a little too sporty. But we’ve put together 24 tips for you that don’t require much sacrifice and are doable. Following just a few of them will have a positive effect on the scales, we promise! 🙂
1. Reduce holiday stress by planning ahead and doing everything you need to do early
Stress has a negative effect on your body weight. I explained exactly how in this blog post on body types.
2. Find an accountability partner
Maybe someone else in your family wants to watch their weight over Christmas. Support each other during the festivities by “sacrificing” together and keeping an eye on your fitness over Christmas.
3. Get enough sleep
Stop partying. Make a firm appointment for the next day.
4. Weigh yourself regularly despite the holidays
There is no need to close your eyes and have a rude awakening in 2 weeks.
5. Get moving as soon as you get up
Go for a quick jog, do one of our 9-minute workouts, or schedule a sport like badminton or tennis.
6. Practice intermittent fasting
If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you know we’re not fans of intermittent fasting. But it’s not a bad thing to do if you want to keep an eye on your figure over the holidays. You can have a protein shake in between.
7. Save on breakfast
You don’t have to have croissants, braided bread and jam in the morning if you still have a big “gluttony” in the evening.
8. Stand as much as possible
There will be plenty of opportunities, especially before dinner.
9. Drive voluntarily
This way you can save calories at the “alcohol point”.
10. If the meeting is at your house: Don’t decorate with candy
If it’s going to be “social,” it’s going to be hard to make resolutions.
11. If you can prepare the aperitif yourself, prepare vegetable sticks with low-fat curd sauce or offer antipasti
Avoid pastries, chips or nuts.
12. Make your own aperitif sauces or chinoise and make them as healthy as possible
13. Do not drink coffee after 3 pm
It affects your sleep, although you may not realize it.
14. Avoid high-calorie alcoholic drinks such as Apéro Spritz, Cuba Libre or Campari Orange
White wine or a glass of champagne is much better for your figure.
15. Control your glass
Wine is poured too often. Drink slowly and intervene if you are being poured to without being asked.
16. Always drink water, preferably sparkling
This will fill your stomach even more. A trick that models use all the time.
17. Chew your food welL
It is much more satisfying!
18. Eat your salad with olive oil and vinegar
This dressing has fewer calories than French salad dressings.
19. Eat as many vegetables as you can
Vegetables have very few calories, are filling and reduce the amount of high calorie foods.
20. Eat enough protein!
Up to 30% of the calories from protein are “burned” directly during digestion. Great, isn’t it? Here’s more on “healthy weight loss“.
21. Decide on a dessert OR “cookies”
It doesn’t have to be both.
22. Make a dessert that is as low in calories as possible
How about passion fruit quark? Healthy and delicious! And best of all: good for your figure, despite Christmas!
23. If you still want to play after dinner, how about Taboo or Activity instead of a board game?
You’re sure to burn more calories than sitting down.
24. Sex
Even if it’s not the big calorie killer, at least it’s fun and better than nothing! 😉
